das beste haus niederösterreich 2013
in terms of urban development a link between rural structure and surrounding landscape was tried to achieve. the initial idea was to assemble up to three living unities in a reciprocal inspiring topography in order to reach a higher density in a rural context in the southern part of the vienna woods. also social advantages due to close neighborhood can be gained. the two overlapping structures generate a sequence of significant open spaces, the access, a covered court yard and a garden. the superposition of vertical and horizontal elements open spaces in juxtaposition and thus create a generous interplay of volumes. coming from the street leading through the village the assembling looks more like a landscape than a building. the green roofs anticipate the hills of the vienna woods.
the choice of material and implementation is part of the consistency
of the experiment: concrete-timber composite construction builds the
support structure. multi-wall polycarbonate walls let the light come
through and link the inside space with the surrounding. the hemp-fill of
the translucent facade is visible. the tamped down mud floor comes from
excavation material that is also used on particular walls.
the
interconnection of construction supervision and implantation led in
terms of detail planning to a high level of innovation and precision.
